Job description

Join a world of energy as MFT Energy’s new Quantitative Researcher

Do you love math, solving complex problems, writing code, and working closely with people who share your ambition? Are you motivated by turning ideas into solutions, testing them in the real world, and seeing the results of your work? Then you might be our new Quantitative Researcher!

The job as Quantitative Researcher

You will be part of our Gas trading team, working closely with traders, researchers and engineers who challenge each other, share knowledge and keep improving their solutions. The team works with short feedback loops and focuses on getting ideas into practice quickly. We also use AI extensively in our daily work, and we expect you to be curious about how modern AI tools can help us work smarter, develop faster and solve more complex problems.

As our new Quantitative Researcher, you will work where quantitative analysis, technology and energy trading meet. You’ll help identify opportunities, develop quantitative models and turn market insights into trading strategies. One day you might be exploring a market opportunity or building a forecasting model. The next, you could be improving data pipelines or building solutions that make our trading more effective.

In this role you will
  • Develop and improve quantitative models and market forecasts that support trading decisions
  • Work closely with traders and researchers to identify, analyse and evaluate market opportunities
  • Design, develop and maintain Python-based tools and models
  • Research, backtest and evaluate trading ideas and strategies
  • Transform complex market data into practical insights and actionable solutions
  • Use AI tools to speed up development, research and problem-solving
  • Continuously improve existing models, systems and processes based on feedback and performance
  • Take ownership of your work from initial idea through implementation and ongoing improvement
About You

You are self-driven, curious and pragmatic, with the drive to turn ideas into working solutions. You enjoy working with others, exchanging ideas and learning from your colleagues, and you are motivated by seeing your work put into practice. You take ownership of your models from first idea to live trading. Experience with energy markets, quantitative trading or forecasting is an advantage, but your mindset, technical capabilities and willingness to learn matter most to us.

We welcome applications from both recent graduates and experienced professionals, as we value talent, curiosity, and the right mindset over years of experience.

What You Need To Succeed
  • A relevant technical or quantitative background, such as mathematics, physics, engineering or a related field
  • Strong coding skills and a real passion for technology
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • A natural curiosity about markets, data and how energy markets work
  • You believe the best results come from working together, and you thrive with short feedback loops
  • An interest in AI and a willingness to explore new tools and ways of working
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written, as our company language is English
Bonus points if you bring
  • Experience with energy markets, quantitative trading or forecasting
