DTU Physics invites applications for a position as Full Professor in Quantum Technology based on Solid-State Quantum Systems.
The position is intended to strengthen DTU Physics’ strategic activities in quantum technology, with a particular focus on solid-state quantum systems for quantum sensing and quantum information processing. We seek an internationally leading researcher with a strong scientific track record, clear leadership profile, and the ambition to build and further develop a world‑class research activity at DTU. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and highly collaborative quantum research environment at DTU Physics. The position is based in the Quantum Physics and Information Technology section and at bigQ – Center for Macroscopic Quantum States, a Danish National Center of Excellence in quantum information science and technology. The role is embedded within a broad and active ecosystem of quantum technology initiatives spanning DTU, national Danish programs, European research collaborations, and partnerships with industry.
Scientific profile The position is broadly defined within solid‑state quantum systems for quantum technology, with emphasis on quantum sensing and quantum information processing.
Relevant systems include, but are not limited to, color centers in diamond and other solid‑state hosts, spin defects, solid‑state quantum memories, hybrid spin‑photon interfaces, and integrated solid‑state quantum devices. We are particularly interested in candidates who can develop experimental research activities connecting fundamental quantum physics with scalable quantum technologies. A central strategic aim is to strengthen DTU Physics’ capabilities in solid‑state platforms for quantum sensing and quantum information processing, including technologies such as diamond‑based quantum sensors, spin‑based quantum devices, quantum interfaces, and solid‑state systems that can enable future quantum networks, quantum processors, or advanced sensing applications. The new professor is expected to complement and expand current activities by establishing a strong solid‑state quantum technology direction, with opportunities for collaboration across quantum optics, photonics, sensing, nanotechnology, materials science, electrical engineering, and industrial applications.
You are expected to take a lead role in teaching at the BEng, BSc, MSc and PhD levels.
DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

Salary and terms of employment The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
