Job summary

The University of Copenhagen's NIVI Research Center invites a postdoctoral fellow to develop and implement functional assays for Strep A antigens and virulence factors. You will engage in recombinant protein production, enzymology, and cell-based assays within a collaborative, international team.

The position is fixed-term for two years with potential extension, starting February 1, 2027 or soon after, based on progress and funding.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, or related field.
• Hands-on experience developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting biochemical, enzymatic, or protein-based functional assays.
• Experience with recombinant protein expression, purification, and characterization.
• Strong understanding of protein biochemistry, enzyme kinetics, and structure-function relationships.
• Experience with molecular cloning and standard molecular biology techniques.
• Experience working with mammalian cell culture systems.
• Ability to independently design experiments and solve technical challenges.
• Strong scientific productivity with peer-reviewed publications.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and validation of biochemical and enzymatic assays for Strep A antigens and virulence factors.
• Contribute to recombinant protein production and characterization.
• Develop antibody-functional assays, including neutralization and inhibition studies.
• Establish OPK and other cellular assays relevant to vaccine-induced protection.
• Collaborate within NIVI consortium; present results at meetings and conferences.
• Mentor and engage in career development discussions.
