Job description

Are you aiming to make a significant scientific contribution to the future of sustainable mobility?

This postdoctoral position offers a unique opportunity to work with exceptional longitudinal datasets that enable cutting-edge analyses of behavioural change, causal mechanisms, and lifestyle transitions over time. You will collaborate with leading international researchers and contribute to evidence that can inform both behavioural theories and transport policy.

Responsibilities and qualification

We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to the ERC project URGENT. The position focuses on advancing the understanding of behavioural change and societal impacts of mobility transitions through innovative modelling and causal analysis.

You will work with unique longitudinal datasets and contribute to methodological advances in behavioural modelling, causality analysis, and/or impact assessment. The position offers excellent opportunities for high-impact scientific publications, international collaboration, and the development of novel approaches to studying sustainable mobility transitions within a highly ambitious, supportive, and international research team.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Develop and apply advanced behavioural modelling approaches
  • Analyse large-scale datasets: longitudinal data from a 7-wave panel survey and a 9-month mobility app dataset
  • Publish findings in leading international journals
  • Collaborate with a network of international colleagues with core expertise in the field

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A background in transport, psychology, geography, sociology, anthropology, data science, or a related field
  • Strong quantitative research and statistical modelling skills
  • A publication record that demonstrates strong research potential
  • Strong written and spoken English skills
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

In addition, candidates should have documented expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Longitudinal data analysis
  • Causal inference and causal machine learning
  • Environmental impact assessment
  • Theoretical frameworks that explain individual behaviour or societal change

Experience spanning multiple areas will be considered an advantage.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

All interested candidates irrespective of age, gender, disability, race, religion or ethnic background are encouraged to apply. As DTU works with research in critical technology, which is subject to special rules for security and export control, open-source background checks may be conducted on qualified candidates for the position.
