Job summary

The Department of Psychology at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a fully funded postdoctoral position in computational modeling of visual perception. The appointment is up to 36 months, starting March 15, 2026, at the SDU Esbjerg campus with collaboration with staff at Odense.

Candidates will design and analyze an integrate-and-fire neural network model (LAMINART). Strong Python programming skills, empirical methods, and willingness to teach are required.

Qualifications

• PhD in psychology, cognitive (neuro)science, vision science, or a related field.
• Conference contributions and peer-reviewed journal articles in a related field.
• Expertise in visual attention and perception.
• Strong analytical skills to design, implement, and analyze complex experiments.
• Willingness and ability to teach for the Department of Psychology.
• Prior experience with neural network modeling is a plus.
• Prior experience with cognitive modelling is a plus.
• Good command of statistics.
• Good command of Python (or similar) and willingness to learn.
• Very good command of English (spoken and written).
• Some knowledge of Danish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, program and analyze an integrate-and-fire neural network model of visual perception.
• Connect empirical findings with model behavior using empirical methods.
• Engage in teaching duties within the department.
• Collaborate with Prof. Søren Krogh Andersen and SDU colleagues.
