Job summary

Novo Nordisk is seeking a PhD Student in Biophysical Characterization to tackle protein particle formation during manufacturing. Based in Måløv, Denmark, the role blends academia and industry over three years.

You will work with the Biophysical Characterization team in CMC Development and collaborate with the University of Copenhagen, applying SAXS, DLS, and other techniques while developing predictive models.

Qualifications

• MSc in biophysics, pharmaceutical sciences or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Data analysis experience, e.g. Python.
• Ability to plan and work independently, alongside strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Genuine interest in peptide and protein stability.
• Desirable wet lab skills and biophysical techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead an interdisciplinary project to explore why protein particles form in peptide products and how to predict them.
• Plan and run systematic experiments on formulation and process parameters affecting particle formation.
• Apply biophysical techniques to characterize drug substance and product.
• Provide quantitative analysis and clear visualization of complex data sets.
• Establish a platform to analyze and predict protein particle formation.
• Explore Computational Fluid Dynamics to translate processing conditions to lab-scale stress fields.
• Share findings through scientific dissemination within the biopharmaceutical field.
