Job summary

DTU invites applications for a PhD Student in Molecular Nutrition and Strain Engineering, joining the BRIGHT Mission 2 program. The research spans microbial strain design, multi-omics analyses, and safety evaluation, with collaboration across national and international partners.

You will work with computational biologists, microbial engineers and food scientists to enhance nutritional features in Aspergillus and Yarrowia, focusing on protein bioavailability and amino acids while developing

Qualifications

  • Two-year Master’s degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, microbiology, nutrition science, or related field.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Fluent in English; literacy in common IT systems and AI.

Responsibilities

  • Identify rate-limiting nutritional features of the two chassis and design strain engineering strategies.
  • Engineer Aspergillus and/or Yarrowia to improve nutritional features without compromising taste or process performance.
  • Coordinate with protein chemistry and in vitro digestion workstreams to iterate designs.
  • Contribute to training predictive models linking strain and process design to nutritional outcomes.

Education

Master's degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, microbiology, nutrition science or related field
