KU - SCIENCE - DATALOGISK INSTITUT - UP1 invites applicants for 1-2 PhD fellowships in Human-Computer Interaction. The project TRACTION seeks to develop a theory-driven science of interaction, under the supervision of Prof. Kasper Hornbæk.

Start date is April 1, 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter. Fellows will conduct independent research on theory-driven evaluation and design of interactive systems, with opportunities to work across AI, XR and social media contexts.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in CS, psychology, design research or related field.
• Strong research portfolio (theses, publications, or projects).
• Ability to document theoretical and empirical work and communicate findings.
• Interest in theory in HCI and use of AI/LLMs.

Responsabilités

• Carry out independent research project under supervision.
• Write scientific papers for high-impact journals.
• Participate in active research environments and workshops.
• Engage in teaching and knowledge dissemination activities.
• Possibly stay at another research institution for short periods.
• Contribute to grant applications and project meetings.
