Job summary

University of Copenhagen invites applications for a 3-year PhD position in compilation principles for reversible languages under the MSCA E-CoRe Doctoral Network. The position starts 1 January 2027 (or after agreement) and is based in the DIKU PLTC section, Copenhagen.

The successful candidate will work on translation techniques, language semantics, and optimization, with secondee opportunities at partner institutions and a strong record of research output expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field by recruitment date.
• Strong academic record and motivation for doctoral research.
• Experience in compiler design, program analysis, and language semantics is an advantage.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Williness and ability to travel for secondments.

Responsibilities

• Study translation of high-level reversible languages into efficient low-level representations.
• Design optimisation techniques for reversible languages and program analysis.
• Implement prototype compilers and evaluate techniques with benchmark suites.
• Publish results at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
