Job summary

University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a three-year PhD position in data-driven critical raw material supply chain resilience. The PhD will be based at SDU Life Cycle Engineering, Department of Green Technology, at the Odense campus.

The starting date is 15 February 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. The project develops modular, data-driven approaches for analysing critical raw material demand and supply-chain dependencies.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent must be completed by enrolment.
  • Background in engineering, industrial ecology, sustainability science, resource management, data science, computer science, or related quantitative discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research under supervision within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Develop modular, data-driven methods for material-flow analysis and resilience assessment.
  • Publish high-quality scientific papers and contribute to datasets and reproducible workflows.
  • Collaborate across SDU faculties and with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the research environment with engagement in events, conferences and visits.
