Job summary

The Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology, Neurorehabilitation Systems invites applications for one or more PhD stipends in Human-Machine Interaction starting Oct 1, 2026. Appointments run for three years and PhD students will enroll in the Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience programme at the Faculty.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in a related field.
• Fluent in English, both verbally and written.
• Experience with experiments and human-robot interaction is a plus.
• Willingness to conduct experiments with able bodied participants.
• Strong motivation and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of a wearable co-pilot system for HRI in industrial settings.
• Monitor psychophysiological states, predict fatigue and posture risks.
• Detect cognitive strain and provide timely cognitive support.
• Apply machine learning and multimodal biosignal processing.
• Collaborate across a European consortium and with international partners.
