Part-Time Lecturer position for the course Data Science in Production: MLOps and Software Engineering

The IT University of Copenhagen invites highly motivated individuals to apply for a Part‑time lecturer position starting in October or soon thereafter.

We invite applicants who want to contribute to the IT University's vision of creating and sharing knowledge that is profound and leads to ground‑breaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity.

The Part‑time lecturer is expected to give course lectures and exercises, as well as the assessment and grading of students. Data Science in Production: MLOps and Software Engineering is a 7.5 ECTS course offered as part of the mandatory courses in the BSc in Data Science. The course runs over 14 weeks, with weekly lectures and associated exercises, typically enrolling 60‑80 students supported by 2‑3 teaching assistants.

The course is an introduction to software engineering and software development for data science. The goal of the course is to allow students to join professional software engineering teams that include data scientist and data analysts. Through lectures, hands‑on exploration, and a final small project, students will learn how to design software tailored for production and how to work in a team using Scrum. Students will be exposed to concepts, principles, technologies, and tools spanning from data engineering to software monitoring.

The course is examined through a group oral exam based on the project and the course syllabus. Grading follows the Danish 7‑point scale and involves an external examiner. The course is taught in English.

A requirement for the position is that the candidate holds at least a candidate‑/MSc degree in a relevant field. Moreover, the ideal candidate should:

• Document experience with teaching, preferably at the university level, including course design and development of teaching materials in mobile development or related areas.
• Have practical experience with mobile app development, including familiarity with modern development frameworks, tools, and best practices.

Salary and terms of employment

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Taxation’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and job structure for academic staff at universities.

Qualification Requirements

The following qualifications are required:

• Candidates should have a MSc (or equivalent)

And at least one of the following qualifications:

• Relevant high-level practical experience not obtained through a university, scientific employment
• Employment in a main scientific position at another university
