Job description

Part-time laboratory assistant for 6 months - DTU Electro

With interest in large volume data handling and processing

The job

We are looking for a curious and engaged laboratory assistant to help us set up a system for large scale data handling and processing to be used together with our single photon detection system.

The main job function and responsibility will be to establish and optimise a system for handling the large data volumes produced by our large-scale single photon detection system.

This entails setting up the hardware server platform, testing the high-bandwidth connectivity to the detection system and ensuring that relevant processing tasks can be executed to reduce unnecessary data accumulation e.g. coincidence measurements across many detector channels.

Our expectations of you

We expect you to have some experience with data handling in a laboratory setting. We expect you to be able to interact with lab users to adapt solutions to best fit the concrete needs of the researchers. We expect you to have an open and positive approach to working in a laboratory environment where things can sometimes be a bit unpredictable and where needs and tasks can evolve as we learn more. We expect you to communicate fluently in English – spoken as well as in writing.

What we offer in return

We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international atmosphere with the focus on research, teaching, innovation and scientific advice for the benefit of the surrounding community. We place emphasis on a high level of professionalism among our staff, so skills development is an integral part of our organization. We offer a great flexibility in the position. In the area of technical and natural sciences, DTU is one of the leading research and education institutions in Europe.

Salary and appointment terms

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as an AC-Bachelor. In addition, supplements can be negotiated in accordance with DTU’s salary structure for academic staff employed in technical-administrative positions at DTU (AC TAP): https://www.inside.dtu.dk/en/human-resources/during-employment/salary/salary-structures

This is a fixed-term position of 6 months with 12 hours per week.
