The senior site authority for mechanical quality, from factory acceptance to defensible client handover.
Role Overview
The Mechanical QA/QC Lead owns quality assurance and control for all mechanical installations on Sensori projects. The role establishes the project quality plan and inspection and test plans, oversees factory and site acceptance programmes, leads audits of HVAC, chilled water, piping and associated mechanical systems, and drives non-conformances to closure. Working alongside project managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients, the Mechanical QA/QC Lead ensures installations meet applicable industry standards, client specifications and regulatory requirements, and that every handover package is complete, accurate and stands up to scrutiny.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the project quality plan, mechanical inspection and test plans (ITPs), commissioning checklists and technical quality documentation aligned to client specifications.
- Plan and manage factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs) for mechanical equipment, scheduling witness and hold points and ensuring all results are recorded within Sensori's quality management system.
- Lead internal and external audits of mechanical installations including HVAC systems, chilled water and condenser water pipework, pumps, valves, CRAH/CRAC units, heat exchangers and associated plant; liaise with certification bodies and close out findings promptly.
- Carry out walkdowns, system inspections, pressure testing reviews, flushing verification, cleanliness inspections and punch‑list verification ahead of commissioning and client handover.
- Raise, investigate and close non‑conformance reports (NCRs); capture lessons learned and update procedures to prevent recurrence across current and future projects.
- Act as the client's primary mechanical quality contact, presenting quality performance reports, inspection results and responses to audit requests.
- Review and approve subcontractor method statements, testing procedures, commissioning documentation and workmanship standards; ensure third‑party inspectors and specialist contractors operate to Sensori quality requirements.
- Maintain the mechanical quality portal and document control systems, ensuring as‑built drawings, test records, flushing reports, pressure test certificates, TAB reports and commissioning documentation remain current and complete.
- Record defects, installation issues and delays, provide substantiated quality evidence for commercial claims or disputes and advise project teams on mitigation measures.
- Coach site supervisors, mechanical trades and subcontractors on inspection requirements, quality expectations and right‑first‑time installation practices.
- Support commissioning and integrated systems testing activities to ensure mechanical installations are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
- Travel to project sites as required for inspections, audits, witness testing and handover activities.
