Job summary

Semco Maritime seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer for the Renewable division to lead modification projects on offshore wind farms. You will design and implement technical plans, coordinating with the project manager and cross-functional teams through design, construction, installation and commissioning.

The role includes developing engineering solutions, planning activities, coordinating job packages, and supporting site surveys and warranty resolution.

Qualifications

  • Educational background with Marine Engineer, Service Engineer, Technical Manager Offshore or Mechanical Engineer.
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems for offshore substations and turbines.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
  • German language ability is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical solutions and engineering documentation for modification projects.
  • Plan and coordinate engineering activities, monitor progress and resolve issues to ensure quality and timelines.
  • Provide back-office engineering support during construction, installation and commissioning.
  • Perform site or offshore surveys as preparation for offshore execution projects.

Your position

As our new Mechanical Project Engineer in the Renewable division, you will be a valuable member of the Global Modification team, whose mission is to execute modification projects on offshore wind farms. You will design, communicate and implement operational plans for engineering activities and contribute technical input to larger projects. Working closely with the project manager, cross-functional engineering teams and the offshore execution team, you will participate throughout the project lifecycle—from initial client inquiries and planning to design, construction, installation and commissioning.

Your place of work will be at our Global HQ located in Esbjerg or at our office in Hamburg. The position is full-time, and up to 30 travel days per year should be expected.

Your Tasks & Responsibilities

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for developing technical solutions and engineering documentation for modification projects, working closely with the project manager and other cross-functional teams in the BoP Service organisation. You will plan and coordinate engineering activities, monitor progress and performance, and take action to resolve technical issues to secure the required quality and project timelines. You will also be a key contributor to resolving warranty claims on OSS projects delivered by Semco Maritime. For offshore execution projects and site operations, you may perform site or offshore surveys as preparation and provide back-office engineering support during construction, installation and commissioning.

Your Tasks Will Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Develop technical projects and solutions and provide engineering input to larger projects
  • Prepare, communicate and maintain operational plans for engineering activities and deliverables
  • Prepare and manage job packages for onshore and offshore installation
  • Perform or coordinate engineering activities across relevant disciplines and stakeholders
  • Monitor engineering progress and performance, and resolve issues to secure quality and project timelines
  • Participate in all project phases from tender and design through production, construction, installation and commissioning
  • Perform or support site and offshore surveys required for project preparation
  • Provide back-office engineering support during offshore execution, construction, installation and commissioning
  • Participate in technical communication with clients to explain, clarify and align technical solutions relevant to project success

To succeed in this position, we imagine that you have:

  • An educational background as a Marine Engineer, Service Engineer, Technical Manager Offshore or Mechanical Engineer
  • Previous experience and broad knowledge and understanding of Mechanical equipment and systems related to offshore substations and offshore turbines at a generalist level
  • Fluency in English, written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate in German is an advantage, but not a requirement
