Job summary

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for PhD stipends in mathematics. The start date is ordinarily September 1, 2027, with possible negotiation.

PhD stipends are available in Algebraic and Arithmetic Geometry, Classical Analysis, and related areas under the GeoTop and Quantum programs. We welcome candidates from Mathematics or nearby fields whose interests align with the listed research areas and who are prepared to join a dynamic,

Qualifications

• Professional qualifications relevant to the PhD project.
• Relevant work experience.
• Other relevant professional experience, including publications (if any).
• A curious mind-set with a strong interest in Mathematics.
• Good English skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry through an independent research project under supervision.
• Complete PhD courses corresponding to approx. 30 ECTS / ½ FTE.
• Participate in active research environments, including a stay at another research institution, preferably abroad.
• Teaching and knowledge dissemination activities.
• Write scientific papers aimed at high-impact journals.
• Write and defend a PhD thesis on the basis of your project.
