Job summary

Aarhus University invites applications for a full professorship in theology at the Department of Theology, School of Culture and Society. The appointment is permanent and available from 1 September 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The professor will lead research and teaching across BA, MA and PhD programs, engage in international collaboration and supervise early career scholars, and contribute to knowledge dissemination. Proficiency in relevant classical languages is valued.

Qualifications

• PhD in theology or equivalent qualification.
• Evidence of excellence in research with an outstanding publication record.
• Experience in securing external research funding and managing projects.
• Ability to supervise and support early career researchers.
• Ability to teach and supervise across BA, MA and PhD levels, in multiple languages as needed.

Responsibilities

• Take a leading role in the department's future research and educational development.
• Supervise and mentor PhD students and postdocs and support career development.
• Teach across BA, MA and PhD programs, including primary sources in languages.
• Foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange in theology.
• Develop and implement a research plan for five years and pursue external funding.
