Job summary

BlueHorizon seeks a Head Librarian to oversee daily library operations in Odense, Denmark. You will manage librarians and support staff, develop the collection, and ensure excellent customer service for patrons.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Library Science (Master's preferred) with at least 5 years in a library setting and supervisory experience. Visa for Denmark required. Salary is disclosed below and will reflect qualifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field required
• Masters degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a library setting with supervisory or management experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of library systems and cataloging standards
• Excellent communication skills with diverse patrons and colleagues
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Proficiency in technology used in libraries including ILS
• Must have own visa for work authorization in Denmark

Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of librarians and support staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
• Develop and maintain the library's collection by selecting materials, cataloging, and weed­ing outdated or damaged materials
• Provide reference services to patrons by assisting with research inquiries and recommending resources
• Plan and implement programs and events to promote literacy and community engagement
• Oversee maintenance of the library space including shelving, seating areas, and computer stations
• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate services and resources
• Stay up-to-date with current trends in library science and technology to continually improve services
