UMag Solutions is a High-Tech company founded in Copenhagen in 2018, as a spin-out company from DTU Space. Our trade is drone magnetic technologies, using in-house developed and patented survey systems and software solutions.

Our main focus is drone magnetic demining, where our V2Mag and F1Mag systems are currently the world’s industry leading on sensitivity and user friendliness.

Job Description

We are looking for an Electronics Engineer or a person with similar education and technical skills/expertise to join our team to work on the design and development of systems and components for drone-based magnetic surveys. The tasks include the continuation of the development of a framework to accurately time, position, measure and relay sensor data on our drone-based magnetometer payloads but also novel work beyond the usual “microcontroller board”. The position is mainly focused on development but can also include the tunning and maintenance of current and future embedded systems.

Our drone-agnostic payloads require accurate timing and positioning in (near) real‑time, by means of on‑board sensors (GNSS and IMU). To accomplish this, we will use both off‑the‑shelf and custom‑made electronics – from a system architecture level down to the actual implementation of the embedded software running on the units.

Your tasks will require you to take an important role in building the embedded hardware capabilities at UMag, giving you the opportunity to make effective and long‑term organizational contributions to the way we innovate at UMag.

In summary, you will help us design, document, implement, integrate and test our systems in collaboration with colleagues in software and mechanical design departments.

Qualifications

As an Electronics Engineer, your qualifications should include:

  • BSc or MSc in Electronics Engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Solid understanding of the fundamental principles of analog, digital, and power electronics.
  • Practical experience with embedded electronics, such as microcontroller-based systems and communication interfaces (UART, I2C, SPI, etc).
  • Experience with CAD schematic capture and PCB design, following EMC best practices.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and testability (DFT).
  • Proficiency with electronic test instrumentation.
  • Written and oral English at a professional level.

Valued qualifications and experience:

  • Experience with Altium Designer.
  • Experience with motor control systems and encoder interfacing.
  • Experience with GNSS and IMU positioning systems.
  • Experience with radio transceivers and antenna systems.
  • You have the ability to break down complex problems in smaller achievable steps
  • You actively contribute to the development process with your ideas and critical thinking.
  • You are open and responsive to other people's ideas, input and constructive feedback.
  • You can work independently.
  • You can collaborate efficiently in a team setting.
