Qualifications

• Erfaring med ledelse af forskning og undervisning, helst inden for naturvidenskaberne.
• Forståelse for forskningsbaseret undervisning og dens praktiske anvendelse.
• Omfattende viden om natur- og landskabsforvaltning.
• Nysgerrighed for biologiske, geologiske og kemiske processer og deres samspil.
• Stærke analytiske færdigheder og erfaring med datasæt relevante for natur- og landskabsforvaltning (R og GIS).
• Stærk organisatorisk og projektledelseskompetence.

Responsibilities

• Udvikle undervisning og undervisningsmaterialer til programmet med fokus på praksis og lovgivning i dansk og europæisk natur- og landskabsforvaltning.
• Udvikle og bidrage til onboarding af studerende.
• Etablere samarbejde med eksterne partnere til undervisning og case-baserede projekter.
• Organisere og støtte undervisningsaktiviteter, herunder feltudflugter.
• Sikre sammenhæng på tværs af kurser.

Would you like to play a key role in the development, planning and delivery of teaching for a new MSc in Nature and Landscape Management at the Department of Biology, Aarhus University? Are you interested in a position combining biological subject matter, administrative responsibilities and support for teaching activities? Are you motivated by developing case-based teaching related to terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems? And can you do so in close collaboration with private and public stakeholders and researchers in an inclusive international environment?

The Department of Biology and the Department of Geoscience are collaborating on a new one-year (75 ECTS) MSc programme where students with a BSc in Biology, Geoscience or Chemistry will gain a combination of subject-specific knowledge, training in interdisciplinary methods and understanding of institutional and legal frameworks related to nature and landscape management. This will enable them to address key societal challenges relating to nature, water, climate and land use.

We are seeking an Educational developer for a fixed-term appointment of three years. You will work closely with the academic staff at the Department of Biology, particularly Professor Signe Normand (Programme Director) and Associate Professor Tove Hedegaard Jørgensen (Vice-head of Department for Education). You will be affiliated a larger team of partners in the department's administrative office.

Expected Start Date and Duration

The anticipated start date is 1. November 2026, with the appointment ending on 31 October 2029, giving an expected duration of three years.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of teaching and teaching materials for the programme. Focus is on professional practice and legislation in Danish and European nature and landscape management. This includes data-driven teaching activities incorporating management-based data, R and GIS.
• Develop and contribute to student onboarding.
• Establish collaborations with external partners for teaching and case-based projects.
• Organise and support teaching activities, including field excursions.
• Help ensure coherence across courses.

Focus is on developing research-based teaching materials and activities. You will occasionally assist in the teaching activities delivered by scientists and external partners. The position is therefore not a traditional teaching position.

Qualifications

• Experience in management-relevant research through a PhD and/or postdoctoral positions, preferably with a background in Natural Sciences.
• Understanding of research-based teaching and its practical application.
• Extensive knowledge of nature and landscape management.
• Curiosity about biological, geological and chemical processes and their interactions.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with datasets relevant to nature and landscape management, R and GIS.
• Strong organisational and project management skills. Experience in planning, executing and administering projects, teaching activities and/or fieldwork.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Teaching experience is an advantage.
• Highly proficient in written and spoken English.
