Job summary

Novo Nordisk seeks a senior quality leader to own the quality strategy for its external manufacturing network in the CMC space, ensuring GMP compliance and patient safety across CDMOs worldwide. You will lead a team of leaders, specialists and Quality Outsourcing Managers, representing Novo Nordisk at the highest levels with external partners.

Qualifications

• Master of Science degree (or equivalent) within a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading leaders within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Extensive experience in Quality Assurance across API, aseptic, tablets, or outsourcing/CDMO management.
• Strategic planning abilities for large-scale international initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across senior management to operations.
• Cross-cultural understanding and ability to build trusted relationships with CDMOs globally (travel ~20–30 days/year).

• Collaborating with CMC Development Quality, CMC, Global Contract Manufacturing and Regulatory Affairs to align priorities.
• Driving initiatives to improve ways of working, foster innovation and simplify external supply quality processes.
• Managing budget responsibility and ensuring optimal resource utilisation.

Your new role
In this senior leadership role, you will own the quality strategy for Novo Nordisk's external manufacturing network in the CMC space, ensuring GMP compliance and patient safety across a significant and growing portfolio of contract development and manufacturing organisations (CDMOs) worldwide. You will lead a team of leaders, specialists and Quality Outsourcing Managers, representing Novo Nordisk at the highest levels with external partners, and drive strategic development in a space where no two days look the same.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing the CMC Outsourcing Quality organisation (~20+ colleagues), setting direction, building capabilities and ensuring the team is equipped to meet current and future demands


• Driving QA governance and oversight of a growing global CDMO network, ensuring license to operate, GMP compliance and inspection readiness at all times


• Representing Novo Nordisk Quality at CDMO management meetings and project steering committees, acting with authority on critical quality matters


• Ensuring risk-based QA oversight, including approval of quality agreements, management of non-conformities and escalation of critical issues


• Collaborating across CMC Development Quality, CMC, Global Contract Manufacturing and Regulatory Affairs to align priorities and simplify quality processes


• Driving strategic initiatives to continuously improve ways of working, foster innovation and ensure robust, simple solutions across the external supply quality landscape


• Managing budget responsibility and ensuring optimal resource utilisation

Your new department
You will join CMC Outsourcing Quality, which sits within CMC Development Quality. This team is responsible for ensuring quality and GMP compliance across Novo Nordisk's global external manufacturing partners – from drug substance and drug product to clinical trial materials. As the outsourcing portfolio expands, this is a pivotal role in shaping how we safeguard product quality at scale while building strong, trusted relationships with CDMOs worldwide.

Your skills & qualifications
We are looking for a seasoned quality leader who thrives in complexity, brings strategic vision and operates with authority and integrity in an international stakeholder landscape. You will bring:

• A Master of Science degree (or equivalent) within a relevant discipline


• Minimum 5 years of experience leading leaders within the pharmaceutical industry


• Extensive experience in Quality Assurance, with broad exposure to areas such as production (API, aseptic, tablets), QC, regulatory affairs or outsourcing/CDMO management


• Strategic planning abilities with a demonstrated capacity to orchestrate large-scale solutions across complex, international stakeholder landscapes


• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – capable of engaging everyone from senior management to operational teams, internally and with external partners


• Cross-cultural understanding and the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with CDMOs globally (travel approx. 20-30 days/year)

Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 940,800.00 to 1,448,700.00 DKK, corresponding to the level of the position.

The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.
