Job summary

Novo Nordisk is seeking a Senior Data & AI Architect to lead data and analytics architecture initiatives across our organisation. You will shape the technology strategy, drive scalable architecture, and guide deployment of data and AI solutions to solve complex business challenges.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD and 12+ years in data and analytics, including 7+ years leading architecture in a regulated life sciences environment.

Your new role

Lead data and AI architecture initiatives across Novo Nordisk. You will shape the technology strategy, drive the development of scalable architecture, and guide the deployment of effective data and AI solutions to solve complex business challenges. Working across a federated, matrix organisation, you will connect enterprise technology, business needs, data governance, and emerging AI capabilities.

Your main responsibilities include:

Data Architecture Strategy

Develop and execute a comprehensive data and analytics architecture strategy aligned with business objectives and digital transformation initiatives.

Data Platform Design and Implementation

Lead the design of scalable and robust data and analytics platforms, including cloud, AI and machine learning, master data management, data quality, data visualisation, and data cataloguing.

Solution Architecture for Data and AI Products

Oversee the design and implementation of data and AI products, ensuring efficient capabilities for data movement, transformation, accessibility, analytics, and reporting.

Advanced Analytics and AI Architecture

Provide architecture leadership for advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI by establishing the platform infrastructure and tools needed to support data science initiatives.

Cloud and On-Premises Architecture

Define and design hybrid-cloud and on-premises data architecture solutions, evaluating and selecting technologies and services for data and analytics workloads.

Data and AI Security and Governance

Collaborate with data and AI governance and security teams to ensure that architecture solutions follow governance policies, security measures, and regulatory requirements.

Technology Roadmap and Governance

Define the technology roadmap for data, analytics, and AI; establish governance and controls; and develop vendor relationships that support architecture initiatives.

Thought Leadership and Industry Engagement

Stay current with emerging trends, tools, and methods in data and analytics architecture, and represent the organisation in industry forums and events.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with technology and business teams to identify opportunities for advanced analytics and ensure AI solutions are integrated into business architecture and portfolios efficiently and sustainably.

Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure data activities comply with global regulatory requirements and industry standards, including GxP and 21 CFR Part 11. Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and drive compliance initiatives to minimise business risk.

Performance and People

Manage and execute the product portfolio within agreed timelines, quality standards, and budget. Track the advancement of analytics capabilities, demonstrate business outcomes, and support the development, retention, engagement, and satisfaction of top talent.

Your Skills and Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in data, computer science, information management, or a related field.

12+ years of experience in data and analytics, including at least 7 years leading architecture in a regulated industry.

Proven track record designing and implementing scalable data and analytics architecture using cloud technologies, modern data architecture principles, and data-governance best practices.

Deep expertise in data architecture, data modelling, data integration, metadata management, and data governance, with proficiency in cloud data platforms, data warehousing, and analytics tools and frameworks.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements and data standards specific to life sciences.

Experience working with cross-functional, distributed teams and driving innovation with emerging technologies in life sciences.

Leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders and global teams.

Ability to work effectively in a matrix organisation, adapt to changing situations, and operate with ambiguity.

Business acumen and the ability to improve business processes through the pragmatic use of data and AI to deliver impact.

Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to inspire and empower teams to achieve ambitious technical goals.
