Job summary

Sharp Brains is seeking a Network Administrator to support and maintain our IT infrastructure on site. The role focuses on LAN/WAN management, hardware provisioning, and routine maintenance of networking gear including switches, routers, and firewalls.

The candidate will troubleshoot network issues, implement VPNs, perform backups, and ensure the reliability of server infrastructure. A relevant degree and hands-on experience are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a network administrator role.
• Hands-on networking, routing and switching expertise.
• Excellent knowledge of server infrastructure management and monitoring.
• Experience with firewalls and VPN remote implementations is desired.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect devices to assess equipment status.
• Reboot routers, servers, storage devices or other equipment.
• Provide loop-back cables to test circuits remotely.
• Reseat or replace components or cables as needed.
• Power down equipment safely (AC/DC) when required.
• Clean equipment and connectors.
• Connect client-provided test sets or test routers to equipment.
• Swap removable storage media as part of maintenance.
• Install or replace modular equipment components.
• Dispatch equipment for repair when needed.
• Label and inventory equipment with serial numbers.

Job Requirements

• Proven experience in a network administrator role


• Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching


• Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure


• Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired


• Ability to set up and configure server hardware


• Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies


• Great at organizing, prioritizing and multitasking


• CCNA, Network+ or equivalent


• BSc degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent


• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from three-year College or technical school with an emphasis in electronics required; bachelor's degree preferred
