Job summary

Sharp Brains in Denmark seeks a Network & Data Centre Support Technician to provide onsite technical support for network, server and storage infrastructure. You will troubleshoot hardware, perform reboots, rack/derack equipment and handle cabling under remote guidance.

The role requires hands-on experience with routers, switches, servers and storage, plus familiarity with TCP/IP and fibre optics. A relevant IT qualification is preferred; CCNA/Network+ helps.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in network support, data centre operations, or similar technical role.
  • Hands-on experience with routers, switches, servers, storage and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling, fibre optics, rack installation and cable management.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching and network connectivity.
  • Ability to install and replace server hardware following remote support guidance.
  • Familiarity with backup media handling, recovery procedures and secure data erasure.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills with ability to prioritise tasks independently.
  • Degree or IT qualification; CCNA/CompTIA Network+ preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and connectivity issues across routers, switches, servers and storage devices.
  • Perform authorised equipment reboots, power cycles, component reseating and replacement of cables or modular hardware.
  • Rack and de-rack equipment, install network switches and PDUs, and maintain organised racks and cabling.
  • Install, connect, disconnect and replace copper and fibre cables, optics, SFPs and GBICs.
  • Test cables and circuits, clean fibre connectors, measure optical light levels and install loopbacks under remote engineering guidance.
  • Provide smart hands support, including connecting test equipment and assisting remote teams with diagnostics.
  • Support new circuit provisioning, equipment deployments, planned maintenance and circuit migrations.
  • Label equipment and cables, maintain asset inventories, and record serial numbers and installation photographs.
  • Exchange backup tapes and removable storage media, following secure handling and storage procedures.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs, secure data erasure and approved e-waste disposal.
  • Document completed work, test results and incidents, escalating unresolved issues promptly.
  • Follow site safety procedures, change controls and information security requirements.

About the Role

We are seeking a Network & Data Centre Support Technician to provide onsite technical support for network, server and storage infrastructure. The role covers hardware troubleshooting, break/fix, equipment installation, structured cabling and smart hands support, working closely with remote technical teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and connectivity issues across routers, switches, servers and storage devices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Practical knowledge of structured cabling, fibre optics, rack installation and cable management.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching and network connectivity.
  • Ability to install and replace server hardware and follow technical instructions from remote support teams.
  • Familiarity with backup media handling, recovery procedures and secure data erasure.
  • Strong organisation, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks independently.
Qualifications
  • A degree, diploma or technical qualification in IT, Computer Science, Electronics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • CCNA, CompTIA Network+ or an equivalent networking certification preferred.
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs and server configuration is an advantage.
