Job description

Do you want to manage some of the most exciting infrastructure projects around Copenhagen? Can you manage the daily execution on site? And do you enjoy finding practical solutions to the challenges that arise during construction? Then join COWI and grow your career!

Create the solutions that will enable a better tomorrow

As a construction manager, you will be responsible for site supervision for the execution of one or more of the many infrastructure and transportation projects in the local area. You will work closely with the design team, develop buildable and sustainable solutions, estimate costs and identify risks and you will work with the client and the contractor to ensure that the project progresses smoothly. You will lead a skilled supervision team and as needs arise, you may also perform supervision tasks yourself. Every day will require close dialogue with the client and contractor to drive the project forward.

In your daily work you will likely be on the construction site where your key responsibilities will be to:
  • Review tender documents and other contractual requirements.
  • Manage construction meetings, time schedules and construction estimates.
  • Coordinate the design team for technical input and responses to RFIs.
  • Collaborate with the supervision team on required observations and inspections.
  • Mobilize specialist inspectors from COWI’s pool of experts.
  • Liaise with the client and advise on solutions and priorities.
  • Support interface coordination with internal and external disciplines.
  • Review progress according to the project time schedule.
  • Ensure compliance according to contractual requirements.
  • Represent COWI with several major customers - including Banedanmark, Vejdirektorat, Energinet, Ørsted and greater Copenhagen and Zealand municipalities.
Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.

The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, contractors or clients. Developing relationships with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. As Construction Manager, you will have a varied workday where you enjoy collaboration with others, working together to find solutions to daily challenges. Your skills include conflict management, and you can carry on a constructive dialogue with those you interact with. You have the experience and tools necessary to manage construction execution safely through completion.

We expect that you have:
  • A relevant educational background in project management, construction, engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience related to engineering, construction and project management with an emphasis on design, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of transportation infrastructure. Site and construction experience are considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multidisciplinary transportation projects with full accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and commercial performance.
  • Professional proficiency in Danish and English - both written and spoken
  • A resourceful mindset and the ability to manage responsibilities in a rapid work setting where project changes occur.
