Job summary

Satair A/S in Copenhagen is seeking a Backend API Automation Tester to design and maintain automation for backend services and APIs, focusing on reliability, performance, and security.

You will collaborate with developers, QA, and DevOps to ensure scalable backend systems, implement RESTful/SOAP tests, and contribute to test strategy, data planning, and continuous integration.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in backend/API testing with deep hands-on experience in Playwright.
• Proficiency in automation scripting using JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, headers, status codes and Git.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Jira and test management tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for backend services and APIs.
• Automate authentication flows (OAuth, JWT, API keys) for secure service-to-service communication.
• Validate RESTful and SOAP APIs for functionality, performance, and schema integrity.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Analyze results, identify root causes, and drive fixes with developers.
• Develop test cases, plans, and data strategies for backend systems.

At Satair, we are looking for a Backend API Automation Tester who will ensure our e-commerce platform and underlying services meet the highest standards of functionality, performance, and reliability. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building robust automation frameworks and ensuring that the "engine" of our digital ecosystem is flawless.

The position will be located in Copenhagen, Denmark.

What the job is...
You'll play a crucial role in shaping the quality of our platform by leveraging your expertise in backend automation, security validation, and defect analysis. You will work closely with developers, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure our backend services are scalable and resilient, contributing directly to our mission of delivering seamless customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks specifically for backend services and APIs.
• API Automation: Create and execute sophisticated API tests using Playwright .Security & Auth: Automate complex authentication flows, including OAuth, JWT, and API keys, to ensure secure service-to-service communication.
• Validation: Validate RESTful (and SOAP) APIs for functionality, performance, and schema integrity (JSON/XML).
• CI/CD Integration: Implement and manage automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) to enable continuous quality.
• Defect Management: Analyze test results, identify root causes of defects, and collaborate with developers to ensure timely resolutions.
• Strategy & Documentation: Develop comprehensive test cases, test plans, and data strategies for backend systems, ensuring high test coverage and clear API documentation.
• Full Lifecycle Testing: Conduct regression, smoke and integration testing to support frequent production releases.

How you will contribute to the team

• Technical Expertise: 5-7 years of experience in backend/API testing with deep hands-on experience in Playwright.
• Scripting Skills: Proficiency in automation scripting using JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Protocol Mastery: Solid understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, headers, status codes and version control (Git).
• Agile Knowledge: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, Jira and modern test management tools like XRAY, HP ALM, Practi Test.
• Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying bottlenecks and optimizing automation frameworks for speed and reliability.
• Stakeholder Acumen: Strong communication skills to bridge the gap between technical backend requirements and business needs.
• Collaboration: Ability to work within diverse teams and foster a positive, solutions-oriented environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or K6.
• ISTQB Foundation Certification.
• Experience with E-commerce platform architectures.
