The Ethical Innovation Hub explores relevant ethical aspects in connection with innovative technologies—particularly in the field of medicine and life sciences—and their development. The advertised position pursues the idea of further establishing the bridge between technology and the humanities or social sciences. In combination, both ethical and social aspects of specific innovations, particularly in the field of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, will be developed, and the methodological approach to considering and researching structural phenomena, as well as relational and social contexts—also with reference to sustainability—will be reflected upon.

Tasks

  • Independent pursuit of competitive third-party funded projects
  • Independent teaching activity in the IMGWF's teaching program
Requirements
  • A successfully completed university degree relevant to the interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary subject area, e.g., philosophy, history, social sciences, cultural studies, science and technology studies, or a related field
  • Ideally, but optionally, a complementary qualification in a specialized field of life sciences or computer science/engineering
  • A successfully completed doctorate relevant to the interdisciplinary subject area
  • Experience in the qualitative or quantitative methods of empirical social sciences/ethics is desirable
  • Experience in critical humanities reflection on sustainability discourses is also desirable
  • Experience in interdisciplinary project work, ideally including grant applications
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to work in a team and an independent, structured approach to work
