Job details:

  • Start date: 01.01.2026
  • Position: Fulltime
  • Salary: Remuneration level 13 TV‑L or salary grade A13 LBesG NRW
  • Contract: Fixed‑term with option to extend (up to 3 years, in accordance with WissZeitVG and civil servant regulations)

Key Responsibilities (approx. % of time):

  • Independent research in international politics, particularly in the history and sociology of world politics; conceptualizing and developing individual and collective research projects (65 %)
  • Teaching in political science (4 teaching hours per semester) and supervision of students (25 %)
  • Participation in the organization of study programmes and academic governance (10 %)

Your profile:

  • Completed university degree (Master’s or Diploma) in political science, preferably International Relations
  • Doctorate/PhD in political science, preferably on International Relations
  • Expertise and publications in history and/or sociology of world politics
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Independent, self‑responsible and engaged work style
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills
  • Strong team spirit and ability to work collaboratively

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Interest in an academic career
  • Established networks in the scientific community
