Position Summary
Join Trimble as a Quality Assurance Engineer and play a crucial role in ensuring the robustness and reliability of our Trimble Advanced Positioning (TAP) solutions. You will collaborate closely with R&D teams, focusing on our industry-leading Real-Time Network (RTN) products, such as the Trimble Pivot Platform (TPP) and its next-generation successors.
This role, based in Trimble's GNSS center of excellence in Höhenkirchen near Munich, is perfect for someone passionate about precise GNSS technology, data analysis, and delivering high-quality products to a global market.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for TAP products, with a primary focus on RTN software and related "corrections hubs."
- Master the technical and operational aspects of the RTN product portfolio (TPP and successors) to ensure product quality and readiness for release.
- Analyze test results, performance plots, and receiver logs to identify, document, and track software defects and system performance issues.
- Collaborate closely with R&D teams to test and validate new features, bug fixes, and system integrations.
- Perform detailed regression, functional, and exploratory testing to ensure product quality meets rigorous standards.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of our QA methodologies.
- Maintain clear and concise test documentation using test management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps Test Plans).
- Adapt and learn new technologies, including testing applications deployed in modern cloud environments (Azure, Docker, Kubernetes).
Skills & Experience Required
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying Engineering, Geodesy, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field (e.g., GNSS, surveying, quality assurance).
- Core Domain Knowledge:
- Familiarity with GNSS positioning concepts (e.g., autonomous, SBAS, DGNSS, RTK, VRS, PPP).
- QA Skills:
- Solid understanding of Quality Assurance principles and application testing approaches.
- Experience in writing and managing test cases, ideally using tools like Azure DevOps Test Plans, TestRail, Xray, or Zephyr.
- Personal Attributes:
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and meticulous with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and full proficiency in English.
Ideal Qualifications
- Direct experience operating a GNSS Real-Time Network using software like Trimble Pivot Platform (TPP) or other.
- A strong understanding of precise positioning concepts (e.g., autonomous, SBAS, DGNSS, RTK, VRS, PPP).
- Familiarity with GNSS data formats and protocols such as RTCM, CMRx, NTRIP, and RINEX.
- GNSS experience from sectors like agriculture, construction, or automotive.
- Familiarity with Trimble's RTX correction services.
- Experience with cloud platforms (especially Azure), Docker, and/or Kubernetes.
- Interest or experience in:
- API testing (e.g., Postman, Python)
- Performance testing (e.g., Locust, k6)
- Test automation (e.g., WebdriverIO, Python/Pytest)
