PROJECT ENGINEER FOR STAGE AUTOMATION CONTROL / C⋅A⋅T (m / f / x)

Imagine working behind the scenes of the world’s most iconic theatres, opera houses, venues, shows , concert and cruise ships, helping bring unforgettable performances to life. At Waagner-Biro Luxembourg Stage Systems S.A. , part of the internationally renowned Waagner-Biro Stage Systems Group , that’s exactly what we do.

As a global market leader headquartered in Austria, we design, develop, and install cutting-edge stage technology systems that set the benchmark for innovation and reliability in over 300 venues worldwide.

At our Luxembourg location in Rodange, we specialise in the development of Computer-Aided Theatre (C⋅A⋅T) —our advanced, safety-certified control system that forms the technological backbone of modern stage automation.

C⋅A⋅T precisely and reliably orchestrates every kind of stage machinery—whether above or below the stage—from hoists, turntables, and lifts to stage wagons and other movable elements. It ensures that even the most complex scenic movements are performed seamlessly and safely during any visit—whether it’s a theatre performance, an opera house production, or an onboard show at sea.

With C⋅A⋅T, creative teams and operators can bring their most ambitious visions to life, confident that every cue and movement will be delivered flawlessly.

🎯 YOUR ROLE

As a Project Engineer, you will join our international commissioning teams to deliver and implement our C⋅A⋅T stage control systems in unique venues around the world.

Your responsibilities will include :
  • Independently planning, organising, and executing installation projects.
  • Configuring, commissioning, and testing stage automation systems.
  • Training operators and technical teams to use C⋅A⋅T safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and project milestones.
  • Leading on-site teams to ensure quality standards and adherence to project timelines.

This role requires extensive international travel— up to 70% of your time— to some of the most exciting cultural destinations worldwide.

✅ YOUR PROFILE
  • Degree in electrical engineering, automation, or technical informatics, or completed vocational training with relevant professional experience.
  • Enthusiasm for drive systems, control technology, and switchgear.
  • Ability to read, adapt, and develop circuit diagrams.
  • Strong interest in integrating mechanical and control solutions.
  • Knowledge of servo drives, inverters, digital interfaces, PLC programming, and CAD tools is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards and risk assessment processes is a plus.
  • Confident in using standard office and project management software.
  • Strong communication skills and intercultural competence.
  • A high degree of self‑motivation and a hands‑on mentality.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written). Other languages, such as French or German, are an advantage.
Important :

Due to legal and project requirements, we can only consider applications from candidates holding EU citizenship or a valid EU passport. Thank you for understanding that we cannot consider applicants without EU work eligibility.

🌍 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON TRAVEL AND TAXATION

Given the significant travel required in this position, we kindly encourage candidates who are not based in Luxembourg to proactively review any applicable remote work and travel‑related taxation regulations in their country of residence—particularly if you expect to be away for more than 35 days per year. This helps ensure you can plan ahead and avoid any surprises.

🌟 WHAT WE OFFER
  • A permanent, full‑time position in an internationally renowned company.
  • An attractive salary aligned with your qualifications and professional experience.
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development.
  • A dynamic, multicultural project environment where your ideas are valued.
  • Creative freedom and responsibility from day one.
✨ BE PART OF SOMETHING BIG

A career at Waagner‑Biro Stage Systems means contributing to world‑class productions that captivate and inspire audiences across the globe. As a Project Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring our C⋅A⋅T systems deliver flawless performances every time.
