Reports to: Planning & Fulfillment Manager

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will be responsible for the customs classification of ABB analytical technology products. You will ensure that our products - from continuous gas analyzers to complex system solutions - are correctly classified and exported in compliance with regulations. To this end, you will analyze the products technically, assign them to regulatory requirements, and maintain the central customs and export control master data.

  • The classification and classification of products, software, and technologies (including customs tariff number, ECCN, AL, etc.) within the product development process
  • The maintenance and updating of product master data, including product descriptions, customs tariff numbers, export control codes, and other classification attributes
  • Collaboration with international teams to ensure consistent classification data worldwide
  • The independent processing of export transactions, including the creation of export-relevant documents (e.g., accompanying documents, certificates of origin) and the execution of export declarations in SAP GTS in compliance with applicable customs regulations
  • The review and application of prohibitions and restrictions, including obtaining the necessary coding and verification from manufacturers and suppliers, maintaining coding lists, and comprehensive documentation of all export-relevant transactions
Qualifications for the Role
  • You have in-depth knowledge of customs law - particularly in the areas of tariff classification/classification, export, and prohibitions and restrictions
  • You have a strong affinity for customs law issues and enjoy working with legal principles, regulations, and guidelines
  • You have experience with SAP GTS and are confident in using the Electronic Customs Tariff (EZT) - ideally in all three areas
  • Your analytical skills allow you to understand complex legal issues and implement them in a practical way
  • You are characterized by a careful, structured, and independent working style
  • You communicate confidently in German and English - both verbally and in writing.
