Job Description Summary
Responsible for activities related to construction, building, and commissioning on customer sites, including site mobilization, civil, erection, and commissioning work, as well as management activities within this scope. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or focusing on the execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness, etc.).
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and perform commissioning activities for HVDC and FACTS products on-site and possibly oversee subcontractors. This includes undergoing intensive training in this area.
- Work collaboratively onshore and offshore to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams within GE Vernova for FACTS and/or HVDC transmission projects.
- Assist in preparing on-site activities in coordination with customers and project management.
- Maintain documentation and site-specific reports.
- Act as the point of contact for all health and safety issues within your area of responsibility.
- Participate in necessary on-site customer meetings.
Technical Knowledge:
- Completed training in electrical engineering or energy technology, preferably with technician certification.
- At least 5 years of experience in assembling HVDC/FACTS systems or high-voltage components is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience with commissioning protection relays and troubleshooting network recorders and analyzers are advantageous.
Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to document on-site activities, write reports, and plan effectively.
- Supervise on-site teams.
- Excellent customer management skills, especially during onsite incidents.
- Team player with willingness to share knowledge and experience.
- Good EHS (Environmental, Health, Safety) knowledge and strict adherence to EHS rules, especially under pressure or during incidents.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical understanding of power electronics/electrical networks.
- Minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
- Experience with drives or FACTS/HVDC systems (valves, controls, protection systems) is preferred.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written.
