Job Overview

SOFTGAMES is seeking an experienced Lead Game Artist to join our fully remote team and lead the artistic vision for our live multi-platform hit, SOLITAIRE HOME STORY ("SOHO"). Since its launch in 2021, SOHO has captivated players worldwide, achieving exponential revenue growth and expanding its platform presence.

Responsibilities

As Lead Game Artist, you will lead a small, diverse team of skilled artists and work together with the Producer, Designers, and Developers to ensure the highest visual quality of all art assets, including UI, isometric world assets, characters, animations, and core gameplay elements.

Due to the small size of the art team, you will have plenty of time to work hands‑on in the project as well, taking care of all UI tasks. You will also collaborate with our technical artist and help the team to implement new technologies and AI‑workflows to boost productivity.

Qualified applicants will be expected to complete a graphics assignment.

Your Role

Define the Artistic Vision : Create and maintain style guides, briefs, and other documentation to communicate and evolve the visual style of the game.

Hands‑On UI Artist

As part of a small art team, you will work hands‑on and take care of all the UI tasks.

Set Quality Standards : Establish benchmarks, workflows, pipelines, and quality goals for all art content.

Team Communicator

Be a strong communicator who is adept at resolving conflicts and thrives in a diverse, multi‑cultural, remote work environment.

Resource Management

Organize workloads and allocate resources in collaboration with the Producer.

Cross‑Disciplinary Collaboration

Align on project goals and milestones with the Producer, Designers, and Developers.

Team Leadership

Mentor and manage a team of artists through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development plans.

Supervise Artistic Work : Provide clear, actionable feedback for all art assets, including UI, isometric world assets, characters, animations, and core gameplay elements, ensuring alignment with the game’s style and quality.

Outsourcing Coordination

Manage communication with outsourcing partners, reviewing and approving their work.

Foster Team Culture

Promote an open, collaborative team environment that encourages diversity, creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Technical Alignment

Serve as the key liaison between the art team and developers to ensure assets meet technical requirements and are properly implemented.

AI‑Workflows

Integrate AI tools as part of the art pipeline.

Your Profile

• 5+ years of experience in the games industry as a lead artist
• Proven experience with casual puzzle games and free‑to‑play mobile games
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
• Deep understanding of the artistic workflow in all areas of production, including UI, environments, characters, animations, and core gameplay
• Passionate about creating, evolving, and executing an artistic vision
• Skilled in planning, organization, and workflow optimization
• An excellent eye for detail and what world‑leading mobile games look like
• Exceptional communication in English

Bonus Skills (Not Required)

• Able to occasionally take on art tasks other than UI, such as character art, environment art, concept art, backgrounds etc.
• Experience with Spine 2D
