We’re looking for a passionate Field Application Specialist – DACH region to be the bridge between their revolutionary QuickMIC system and the clinical laboratories that rely on its precise performance of rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing (rAST) every day. In this role, you’ll primarily support customers within Germany and the DACH-region, while also engaging with laboratories and distributors in nearby markets. If you’re driven by science, technology, and making healthcare faster, smarter, and more customer-friendly, this is your chance to shape the future of clinical diagnostics.

About the job
  • Location: Germany (Remote). Travel to customer sites, labs, and partners as needed, up to 50‑70% of work time
  • Job type: Full‑time
  • Report to: Chief Commercial Officer

As a Field Application Specialist you ensure that Gradientechs diagnostic QuickMIC system is successfully implemented, adopted and used optimally by their clinical laboratory customers – you act as the primary contact for all application‑ and support‑related questions. You are a bridge between their forefront technology and the hospital laboratories’ daily clinical workflow, providing technical expertise, training, and scientific and application support.

Key responsibilities
  • Support and provide expert guidance to their valued customers and authorised sites in Germany, but also in other nearby markets, assisting them with effective implementation and evaluation of the advanced QuickMIC system.
  • Train lab personnel on their QuickMIC instrument operation, maintenance and troubleshooting, as well as provide hands‑on training for test kits, workflow and data interpretation. Training will be performed both in person at the hospital labs and at distributors’ sites, as well as through engaging online training sessions and webinars.
  • Provide on‑site or remote technical or application support to resolve possible issues. Support troubleshooting is backed by Gradientechs service engineers and their development team.
  • Document all technical inquiries in Gradientech’s Jira and Salesforce systems.
  • Conduct follow‑up visits to ensure smooth operation and user satisfaction.
  • Monitor QuickMIC system performance and usage at customer sites.
  • Collect and communicate user feed‑back to product management and development team.
  • Assist the sales team at scientific meetings, conferences, and trade shows, presenting the QuickMIC technology and the system’s capabilities.
  • Give input and collaborate with the marketing team to create and maintain high‑quality marketing material and clear technical documentation to ensure effective knowledge transfer for various scientific presentations and competitor positioning.
About you
  • Degree in microbiology, clinical chemistry, biomedical science or a related field – a PhD degree is preferred.
  • At least 2‑5 years of working experience from clinical diagnostic labs or industry field application support roles.
  • Excellent communication and training abilities.
  • Customer‑oriented and comfortable working independently in the field; customer support experience is highly valued.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clinical relevance.
  • Ability to engage knowledgeably and confidentially with key decision‑makers, lab directors, professors, CEOs, and lab technicians.
  • Driver’s license is essential.
  • Fluent German (C1) and English required.
