What You’ll Be Doing

We are seeking a proactive and strategic Employee Relations & HR Manager to join our expanding JD.COM team in Germany. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to operational leaders and frontline managers, ensuring HR initiatives align seamlessly with business goals while maintaining full compliance with German employment law. You will help shape a performance-driven, engaged workplace culture while managing complex employee relations cases, co-determination processes, TUPE-like transfers, and post-acquisition integrations across our warehousing, transportation, and supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive employee relations support, managing cases related to performance, misconduct, absence, grievances, and disciplinary matters while ensuring compliance with German labor law and the Works Constitution Act.
  • Advise and support managers on HR best practices, German employment law, and JD.COM policies, ensuring consistent and fair people management across operational teams.
  • Draft, review, and implement HR policies, contracts, and documentation aligned with German employment law and JD.COM global standards.
  • Lead and manage TUPE-like transfer processes (Betriebsübergänge) end-to-end, including due diligence, consultation with works councils, employee communications, and post-transfer integration, ensuring compliance and a seamless employee experience during acquisitions and outsourcing transitions.
  • Support organizational change initiatives (restructuring, redundancies, consultations) with a focus on respectful communication and risk mitigation.
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with works councils, ensuring effective co-determination while aligning with JD.COM’s operational needs.
  • Collaborate with European HR colleagues and business stakeholders to embed JD.COM’s culture, values, and operational excellence within the German workforce.
  • Provide insights to drive employee engagement and continuous improvement within a performance-driven culture.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel as needed to support complex ER, TUPE, and integration matters..

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s or relevant HR certification is a plus).
  • At least 5 years of experience in Employee Relations or HR Management within Germany, preferably in logistics, supply chain, or technology sectors.
  • Proven experience managing Betriebsübergänge (TUPE-like transfers), post-acquisition integration, co-determination processes, and works council negotiations in Germany.
  • In-depth knowledge of German employment law, HR best practices, and case management across ER topics (grievances, disciplinary, performance, absence).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage HR projects while balancing compliance with business objectives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build trust across all levels, including senior leadership and frontline managers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clarity, empathy, and cultural awareness.
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume, operational environment with frontline and blue-collar workforce exposure.
  • Able to thrive in an agile, growth-focused environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
