Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Business Unit Head is responsible for the leadership of the Oncology Business Unit in Germany. The successful candidate will be accountable for developing the long range and annual strategic plan for the therapeutic areas and ensuring cross-functional alignment and successful preparation and execution in market. This role includes full P&L; responsibility for commercial activities including Sales and Marketing for current and future Jazz Pharmaceutical products in the Haematology / Oncology therapy area.

The incumbent has responsibility for ensuring all activities are executed in accordance with regulatory and legal frameworks including but not limited to local legislation and guidelines, as well as Jazz Pharmaceuticals Policies and Healthcare compliance procedures.

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Impact

Serves as a key strategic member of the German Leadership Team, shaping the overall direction and success of the organization.

Provides forward-looking insights and strategic recommendations based on market dynamics, competitive intelligence, and business performance.

Partners with fellow Leadership Team members to drive cross-functional initiatives and ensure strategic alignment across all business units.

Represents the German Oncology business at the leadership level, advocating for resources and support to achieve ambitious business goals.

Champions Jazz’s transformation into a high-performing organization by fostering a high-performance culture, building high-performing teams, and embedding high-performance practices.

Business Ownership & Strategic Planning

Holds full P&L; accountability for the German Oncology business, ensuring delivery of financial and operational objectives.

Defines the long-term strategic vision and leads the development and execution of annual and multi-year business plans, aligning local strategies with EU / International priorities.

Collaborates closely with EU / INT teams to shape and deliver brand strategies, including contributions to long-term brand planning initiatives.

Leads business planning, forecasting, and resource allocation to optimize performance and growth.

Defines and monitors strategic and operational KPIs for performance tracking.

Commercial Execution & Market Leadership

Oversees product launches, lifecycle management, and go-to-market strategies to maximize market impact.

Aligns and mobilizes sales and marketing teams around shared goals and strategic priorities.

Builds and nurtures strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and other critical stakeholders.

Drives a cross-functional approach that engages key centers and thought leaders across the healthcare ecosystem.

Drives digital innovation and adoption of data-driven decision-making across commercial functions.

Team Leadership & Culture Building

Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing team by embedding high-performance practices

Implements robust performance management processes to set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support employee development and growth.

Regularly engages with senior functional leaders and customers to shape strategic plans and elevate the German team’s impact.

Makes high-stakes decisions on business unit matters with broad organizational implications.

Recognized internally and externally as a respected and influential business leader.

Operational Excellence & Compliance

Leads robust, data-driven business reviews to monitor performance, gather stakeholder feedback, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Drives operational efficiency through initiatives in cost control, revenue optimization, legal compliance, and HR management.

Tracks KPIs and business metrics to ensure alignment with strategic goals and timely course correction.

Coordinates with internal departments—especially Medical Affairs and Market Access—to ensure effective governance and operational excellence.

Ensures full compliance with all regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proven leadership track record in the pharmaceutical industry, with demonstrated success in building, leading, and inspiring high-performing teams.

Experience in solid tumors strongly preferred, with a deep understanding of oncology market dynamics.

Skilled in talent management, with a strong ability to recruit, retain, and develop top-performing individuals and cohesive teams.

Strategic and operational agility, combining high-level vision with a pragmatic, hands‑on approach to execution.

Extensive experience in pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing leadership, with a history of delivering strong commercial results.

Demonstrated success in strategic brand planning, including the development and implementation of long-range and annual brand strategies.

Innovative mindset, with a track record of creating impactful programs and materials that support HCPs and commercial teams—e.g., digital engagement platforms.

Proven excellence in product launches, market shaping, and launch readiness across multiple therapeutic areas.

In-depth knowledge of the German healthcare system, including pricing, reimbursement, and market access frameworks.

Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable strategies.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting to large and diverse audiences.

Highly collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to cross‑functional teamwork.

Effective problem solver and decision maker, able to identify key business issues and develop strategic, results‑oriented solutions.

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities, manage competing demands, and meet ambitious timelines.

Fluent in German and English, with excellent command of both languages in professional settings.
