Beamline scientist (m/f/d) in Hard X-Ray Spectroscopy

Our department researches fundamental processes of light-energy conversion at the atomic level. We are looking for a suitable candidate for the further development and supervision of the hard X-ray spectroscopy beamline KMC-3 at BESSY II.

Your Tasks
  • Conducting your own research projects in the field of X-ray spectroscopic investigation of solid and liquid energy materials, especially under in situ/operando conditions
  • Developing instrumental techniques and methodological approaches for the X-ray spectroscopic investigation of energy materials
  • Supervising and supporting users in experiments and data evaluation
  • Further development of the measuring station and experimental methods
  • Regular maintenance and calibration of instruments (detectors, pumps, vacuum chamber, laser, sample holders, etc.)
  • Supervision of doctoral students
Your Profile
  • Doctorate in physics, chemistry, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in synchrotron-based X-ray spectroscopy (experiments, user support, and data analysis)
  • Comprehensive organizational and content-related support for third-party funded projects and employees
  • Excellent communication skills and team spirit
  • Very good German and good English skills
