As a Senior NatCat Parametric Underwriter, you'll be at the forefront of Swiss Re's parametric insurance evolution, combining technical expertise with commercial acumen to develop, underwrite, and market parametric solutions for natural catastrophe risks globally.

This role has a flexibie location, so it can be based in : Mumbai, India; Singapore, Singapore; Sao Paulo, Brasil; Zurich, Switzerland; or Mexico City, Mexico.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop Swiss Re's NatCat parametric portfolio with a focus on sustainable growth
  • Underwrite and price parametric covers for earthquake, tropical cyclone, and flood risks
  • Structure and cost sophisticated weather and remote sensing parametric solutions
  • Market and sell Swiss Re NatCat parametric products to clients and brokers
  • Engage with treaty clients and brokers to understand their needs and tailor solutions
  • Drive product development and standardization of Swiss Re's parametric product offerings in collaboration with peers in cat modeling.
  • Enhance tools and capabilities by developing parametric tools, conducting trainings, and facilitating global adoption
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in a proactive and transparent manner

The Parametric Center of Excellence operates within Global Specialty – Agriculture & Parametric and is embedded in the P&C Reinsurance Business Units. About You

You're an innovative thinker who combines technical expertise with commercial awareness. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about developing data-driven solutions to complex risk challenges. Your ability to communicate complex concepts clearly makes you effective with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements :

  • University degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics or other suitable Environmental Sciences
  • Minimum 5-7 years of proven experience in pricing NatCat parametric products
  • Solid understanding of reinsurance underwriting principles and pricing methodologies
  • Practical experience working with satellite imagery and meteorological datasets
  • Track record in marketing and selling (re)insurance or parametric products
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in parametric insurance
  • Strong analytical mindset with demonstrated data science capabilities

These are additional nice to haves :

  • Programming expertise in Python and / or R
  • Experience in catastrophe modeling
  • Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration
  • Additional language fluency beyond excellent English communication skills

For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between CHF 132,000 and CHF 198,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers :

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
  • the applicant's own profile including education / qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.

Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
