Job Title: Lead Software Architect

About the Role

We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Lead Software Architect to join our team in Zurich. In this strategic role, you will define and guide the architecture of secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud-based systems.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and document robust software architectures with a focus on cloud-native, secure, and highly available solutions.
• Drive architectural decisions across backend and frontend systems, using patterns such as microservices and domain-driven design (DDD).
• Produce and maintain architectural documentation using tools like UML, Arc42, and modeling standards.
• Lead by example as a technical authority in backend technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, SQL/NoSQL databases, and Apache Kafka.
• Provide guidance and input on frontend development (e.g., Angular, React) to ensure end-to-end architectural consistency.
• Champion DevOps and GitOps best practices, including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.
• Ensure security best practices are embedded in the design and development lifecycle, particularly around OAuth2, OIDC, and authentication/authorization mechanisms.

Your Profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (FH, Uni, ETH or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering or architecture roles.
• Deep knowledge of modern software architecture, especially in cloud environments.
• Proven experience with microservices, DDD, and architectural documentation.
• Strong backend development expertise, especially with Java, Spring Boot, databases, and event-driven architectures (Kafka).
• Ideally, hands-on experience with frontend technologies like Angular or React.
• Solid understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, containerization, and Kubernetes, with a security-conscious mindset.
• Fluent in German and English (at least C1 level in both).
