The University of Basel, ranked among the world’s top 100 universities and within the top ten among German-speaking universities, is seeking a Professor for Emergency Medicine and Chair of the Emergency Center.
The Emergency Department, part of the University Hospital Basel, serves as the central academic emergency medical care facility for Northwestern Switzerland and beyond, treating over 60,000 adult patients annually. It features state-of-the-art facilities, including 42 observation beds and two resuscitation rooms.
The successful candidate will oversee the Emergency Department in clinical, economic, and organizational aspects, collaborating with nursing and administrative partners. They will leverage their expertise in clinical care, research, teaching, and operations management to enhance the visibility of emergency medicine at Basel. Responsibilities include training and continuing education of physicians, leading research initiatives, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and maintaining scientific partnerships within the university’s Department of Clinical Research.
Requirements include board certification in Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, or Emergency Medicine, extensive experience in emergency medicine, demonstrated leadership, research success with third-party funding, and proficiency in German.
