Description

We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join a cross-functional mechanical engineering team driving the development of the next generation of Blood Gas & Electrolytes (BG/E) Analyzers. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge medical technology in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage work packages in a matrix-organized, agile development environment.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, scrum masters, architects, and developers to define, estimate, and implement tasks.
  • Drive all phases of mechanical development: feasibility, design reviews, testing, root cause analysis, and maintenance.
  • Conduct detailed engineering analyses (CFD, FEA, FMEA, tolerance analysis, simulations).
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Execute technical reviews with stakeholders across R&D, Operations, and Customer Support.
  • Take ownership of mission-critical tasks and complex technical challenges.
  • Translate requirements into detailed unit specifications and ensure successful implementation.

Your Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: At least 8 years in a highly regulated industry (MedTech preferred).
  • Expertise in:
  • Material evaluation and design for manufacturing, serviceability, and sustainability.
  • Injection molding design or plastic technologies, ideally for cost-optimized, high-volume production.
  • Development of complex medical mechatronic systems (e.g., pumps, valves, actuators, sensors, temperature control).
  • CAD design using SolidWorks (mandatory) and SAP, with strong knowledge of ISO 8015 / GPS standards.

Skills:

  • Strong grasp of physics and engineering fundamentals.
  • Methodical and systematic approach to product development.
  • Proven success in multidisciplinary teams and regulated environments.
  • Ability to lead external development partners and suppliers independently.
  • Languages: Fluent in English (spoken and written); German comprehension is a plus.
