Role Description:
The Senior Network Planner is responsible for designing, optimizing, and future-proofing the company’s supply chain network, focusing on manufacturing and logistics. The role emphasizes long-term planning with strong links to mid-term scenario management to ensure resilience, cost-efficiency, and agility. By leveraging data analytics, forecasting models, and simulation tools, the Senior Network Planner drives strategic decisions to align the network with evolving business needs, market trends, and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Network Design & Optimization
- Develop and refine end-to-end supply chain network strategies supporting business growth and operational efficiency.
- Optimize manufacturing footprint, warehouse locations, and distribution centers for cost-effective and agile operations.
- Utilize data analytics and modeling tools to simulate network scenarios and recommend improvements.
- Assess production and distribution locations to ensure resilience, risk mitigation, and sustainability.
Scenario Management & Mid-Term Planning
- Define and execute scenario planning to assess impacts of market fluctuations, demand shifts, geopolitical risks, and disruptions.
- Develop 'what-if' simulations to evaluate sourcing, capacity, and transportation changes.
- Align mid-term planning with financial forecasts, inventory strategies, and capital investments.
- Collaborate with finance and operations to support cost and service objectives.
Capacity Planning & Forecasting
- Analyze capacities and constraints to plan future network needs.
- Forecast manufacturing and logistics capacity requirements to prevent bottlenecks.
- Work with sales and operations to align strategies with business goals.
- Lead network impact assessments and develop recommendations for new capabilities and network changes.
Logistics & Transportation Strategy
- Design efficient logistics networks to enhance transport efficiency, reduce costs, and lower CO2 footprint.
Cost & Efficiency Management
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs through sourcing, production, and distribution optimization.
- Balance cost reduction with high service levels and resilience.
- Drive inventory optimization initiatives to reduce working capital while maintaining availability.
Technology & Process Improvement
- Leverage digital tools, AI, and automation for better visibility and decision-making.
- Implement network design software, route optimization, and analytics tools.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Develop digital tools and processes, including sustainable governance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with procurement, operations, finance, and logistics teams for alignment.
- Support sustainability initiatives to reduce emissions and waste.
- Present network optimization plans to senior leadership.
- Provide mentorship and leadership in network assessments and changes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related field.
- 10+ years in supply chain network planning, manufacturing footprint analysis, logistics optimization.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with supply chain modeling tools.
- Proficiency in scenario planning and simulation techniques.
- Experience with data analytics tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, Python).
- Understanding of global supply chain dynamics, trade regulations, and risk management.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in manufacturing and logistics planning.
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives in supply chain.
- Six Sigma or Lean certification is a plus.
