Your Tasks

  • BakerHicks is a leading consultancy in the power transmission and distribution sector in the UK, expanding its power team in the DACH region, and is seeking an ambitious High-voltage Cable Engineer to support this growth.
  • You will be an experienced engineer in the design and planning of high voltage cable systems from 11kV to 400kV, onshore or offshore.
  • This includes producing cable system design calculations, cable rating calculations, thermomechanical and electromagnetic force calculations, and collaborating with CAD technicians on cable route layouts and trench cross sections.
  • You must be fully proficient in German and have a good level of English.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and plan High Voltage Cable systems and installations, acting as the lead cable engineer/planner.
  • Coordinate with UK design teams to ensure compliance with local standards.
  • Deliver design scope on time and within budget.

Your Profile

  • Experience in designing, managing, or producing reports and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure in the DACH region.
  • Proficiency in German and good English skills.
  • Specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to BakerHicks offices in Basel and London.

Travel Information

Project durations typically range from 6 to 24 months. Work locations are mainly at the customer site, with the possibility of remote work in consultation with project management. Employees will have opportunities to work on diverse projects and visit different cities while maintaining weekend stays at home.
