Embedded Systems Software Developer (m/f/d) – Vienna, Austria

A global leader in hydropower plant automation is seeking a Software Developer for Embedded Systems to join their R&D department in Vienna. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that supports critical infrastructure and helps them become cleaner and greener!

The Role

The successful candidate will contribute to the design and development of resource-efficient embedded software solutions for custom hardware systems. The focus is on Linux-based embedded platforms used in industrial automation applications. This is a long-term position offering broad exposure across the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-performance software in C/C++ for embedded systems
• Focus on solutions running on Embedded Linux platforms
• Participate in design, coding, and test phases of development
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineering and other departments

Ideal Profile

• Completed education in computer science or similar
• Proficiency in object-oriented C++ programming
• Experience with Embedded Linux
• Knowledge of communication protocols like IEC 60870-5 or IEC 61850 is a plus
• Familiarity with cybersecurity practices in embedded development is a plus
• Skills in automated testing and related frameworks are desirable
• Fluent in both German and English
• Strong analytical thinking, independence, and a collaborative mindset
