About the role
In this role you´ll play a key role in supporting our underwriting hubs in Zurich and Bermuda by providing expert advice on technical contract wordings, along with guidance, training, and product development support. Your work will directly contribute to advancing the strategies, risk appetite, and ambitions of our client. You’ll take full ownership of inwards treaty reinsurance wordings and contracts for our property & casualty reinsurance business—primarily across EMEA and international programs.
Your responsibilities
Lead all aspects of inwards treaty reinsurance wordings and contracts for P&C business, mainly in EMEA and international programs.
Review, draft, and negotiate treaty and retrocession contracts, ensuring consistency across regions and lines.
Handle commercial agreements like NDAs and binding authority agreements with a pragmatic, collaborative approach.
Build internal and external wordings networks; engage with market bodies to raise standards.
Collaborate with underwriters, brokers, and clients on wordings negotiations and best practices.
Support drafting and review of outwards and group-internal reinsurance contracts.
Create internal guidance, lead training sessions, and mentor junior underwriters and counsel.
Help shape and implement wordings strategy; contribute to team goals and key initiatives.
Explore and apply new technologies to improve workflows, contract review, and reporting.
Your profile
Extensive experience (10+ years) in reinsurance contract wordings, preferably gained in a (re)insurance company, at a broker or in private practice.
Fluent in English, any additional language, in particular German or French, is a plus.
Strong analysis and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and analyse potential issues, develop solutions and deploy sound decision making.
Experiences with new technology to enhance wordings review speed and quality.
Confident communicator and negotiator, able to effectively articulate opinion, influence and diplomatically challenge the status quo.
Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships and share knowledge with colleagues globally.
Diligent approach to work with the capability to plan, prioritise and manage deadlines and handle workload to meet expectations of stakeholders, especially during peak renewal periods
