Jobbeschreibung

Company Description

At CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers probe the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter—fundamental particles that collide at close to the speed of light. These processes provide insights into the fundamental laws of nature.

Job Description

Introduction

The Engineering Department (EN) advances technology to support physicists in their research. Within the Electrical Engineering (EL) group of the EN department, you will join the Maintenance and Operation (MO) section, responsible for CERN's electrical transmission and distribution network.

Are you a qualified and proactive Asset Management expert, experienced with CMMS systems for electrical networks or industrial complexes, and knowledgeable in inventory management?

Your skills will contribute to the operation, maintenance, and extension of CERN’s complex electrical network, supporting some of the world's most advanced technical installations. Join CERN’s Electrical Engineering team and make an impact!

Functions

As an Electrical Technical Engineer in the Maintenance and Operation section of the EN-EL group, you will help establish and maintain the representation of the electrical network assets and inventory within CERN’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

You will define and implement asset hierarchies, failure codes, and maintenance workflows, ensuring high-quality data and operational usability for the team. Your responsibilities include managing data for installed equipment and spare parts stored in warehouses.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct inventory and classification of all electrical network assets. Define asset hierarchies and data models for the CMMS. Coordinate site surveys, process data with AI tools where applicable, and ensure data accuracy and traceability. Monitor data quality through audits and validation routines. Collaborate with field teams to resolve data gaps. Configure failure codes and support maintenance planning. Provide training and technical assistance to users. Maintain documentation and create dashboards and reports on asset status and KPIs. Organize spare parts data and link it to assets in the CMMS.
  • Support operational activities, such as participating in periodic network tests when needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering or related fields.

Experience:

  • Experience with CMMS implementation, configuration, or administration, especially asset structuring and maintenance data modeling.
  • Familiarity with electrical infrastructure assets like transformers, switchgear, etc.
  • Experience in data collection, site surveys, and warehouse management.
  • Experience applying AI tools for data processing is advantageous.

Technical competencies:

  • Operation and maintenance of electrical networks.
  • Database design related to asset structuring and maintenance data.

Behavioral competencies:

  • Results-oriented: driving projects to completion.
  • Effective communication: documenting procedures and decisions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Autonomy in work.
  • Teamwork: building effective relationships.

Language skills:

  • Fluent in English or French, with a willingness to learn the other language.
