Job summary

The Organization of American States (OAS) invites applications for a position within the MAPP unit. The role focuses on gathering and analyzing information to support department activities, strengthen relations with Member States, and promote justice, security, and the rule of law across the hemisphere.

You will draft reports, improve data systems, and assist in program planning and evaluation. Essential qualifications include a university degree with several years of relevant experience;

Qualifications

• Essential: First University Degree in Social Sciences, Law, Political Science, Administrative Sciences, or a related field and 7 years of relevant professional experience, OR Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience, OR Doctorate and 1 year of relevant experience.
• Desirable: Experience or knowledge of the OAS mandate and priorities related to the area of work.

Responsibilities

• Gathers, analyzes and consolidates information to support department activities and strengthen relations with Member States and key institutions.
• Analyzes trends affecting hemispheric situations and drafts talking points and background notes.
• Contributes to proposals and executes activities within the department’s mission including fact-finding and advisory missions.
• Supports monitoring of projects and prepares administrative/financial requests in liaison with staff.
• Drafts, reviews and edits correspondence, reports, proposals, budgets, and publications for consistency and language.
• Oversees databases and produces regular or ad-hoc reports and summaries.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Political Science, Administrative Sciences, or related field

Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Conflict Resolution, Peacebuilding, Human Rights, or related field

Doctorate and 1 year of relevant experience
