Job summary

Platzi is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and own the systems that power our B2B education platform. You will shape data models, services, and integrations, ensure performance and reliability under load, and make decisions that balance business needs with technical costs.

You will work on AI-powered products for corporate clients, joining a team that values judgment and long-term maintainability. Remote-first with key offices in Bogotá and elsewhere.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping and operating software in production with depth in system design.
• Strong fundamentals: data modeling, APIs, performance, concurrency and failure modes.
• Experience building B2B / SaaS products.
• You've owned a system through real scale or a migration.
• You can explain tradeoffs between technical decisions and business needs.
• Fluent English and Spanish.

Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer at Platzi you build and own the systems that companies use to train their teams with us: the data model, the services, the integrations, how they behave under load, and how they recover when they break. You join a team focused on our B2B business, building AI-powered products for companies, and you report to the Engineering Manager. Seniority here means judgment, not distance from the code. You take an ambiguous problem and come back with a decision you can defend, including the decision not to build. You care about the business problem behind every feature and about what your code costs to run and to maintain a year from now, not only about getting it merged.

Responsibilities

• Design and build services, data models and interfaces that hold up as the product and the traffic grow.
• Own what you build in production: performance, reliability, cost, and how it recovers when it breaks.
• Start from the business problem: understand what customers and internal teams need, translate it into a feature, and measure what it delivered.
• Make architecture decisions you can defend, and say no to complexity that doesn't pay for itself.
• Use AI and LLMs to go faster on design, implementation and review, and review what they produce as strictly as your own code.
• Raise the bar around you through code review, standards, and the calls that stop bad decisions early.

Requirements

• At least 5 years shipping and operating software in production, with real depth in system design.
• Strong fundamentals: data modeling, APIs, performance, concurrency and failure modes.
• Experience building B2B / SaaS products.
• You've owned a system through real scale or a migration, and can explain what you'd do differently now.
• You can weigh a technical decision against what the business needs, and explain the tradeoff to people who don't code.
• Fluent English and Spanish.

Nice to have

• Experience working directly with customers or close to commercial, customer success or support teams.
• Experience building products on top of LLMs.
