Job summary

Appen Limited is seeking a Transcription Specialist to contribute to improving AI-powered speech recognition. You will review audio files, transcribe spoken content accurately, and refine transcripts to ensure high-quality data that supports the development of advanced language models.

This is a remote, project-based role with CrowdGen for Independent Contractors. You will receive setup instructions by email from CrowdGen and proceed with participation in the project.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of and familiarity with spelling conventions in Arabic language.
• Fluent in Egyptian dialect.
• Good reading comprehension skills in English.
• Stable internet connection.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to review examples and apply rules to the provided data.
• Prior experience with transcription.
• Prior experience with audio data.
• Access to a PC/laptop or an iPad.

Responsibilities

• Transcribing audio recordings into text with high accuracy
• Capturing speech exactly as spoken, including pauses, filler words (e.g., 'uh,' 'um'), repetitions, and incomplete sentences
• Adding timestamps to match the audio
• Identifying and labeling different speakers in conversations
• Marking non-speech events such as laughter, background noise, or unclear audio
