Description

We are seeking a highly skilled QA Engineer with expertise in manual testing of multimedia products across Smart TVs, Set-Top-Boxes, OTT apps, and related devices. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of audio and video playback, codecs, and streaming environments, ensuring our client products deliver a seamless entertainment experience to users worldwide.

This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to validate functionality, performance, and reliability of applications and embedded systems across multiple platforms.

Requirements

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• 6-8 years of experience in Manual QA testing.
• Hands-on testing experience with multimedia products dealing with audio/video playback.
• Examples: Set-Top-Boxes, Smart TVs, OTT apps, Cameras, Projectors, Streaming sticks (Firestick, Chromecast, Apple TV), Gaming consoles (PS4, Nintendo), Cable/Satellite TV systems.
• Strong knowledge of audio and video codecs (HLS, MP4, MKV, etc).
• Ability to troubleshoot issues across different devices, platforms, and operating systems.

Good-to-Have

• Basic understanding of Python & Docker (to run automation scripts locally).
• Familiarity with setting up Dektec Modulator for stream playback.
• Knowledge of Stream Analyzer for analyzing live streams.
• Awareness of broadcasting standards: DVB, ATSC, ISDB-T.
• Experience with industry tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or other bug tracking/test management systems.

Required to travel regularly in Latam (once per release) to test on Live TV feed. Also infrequently travel at short notice to help reproduce/debug field issues.

Job responsibilities

• Design, execute, and maintain manual test cases for Smart TVs, STBs, OTT applications, and other multimedia devices.
• Perform detailed validation of audio/video playback, codecs (HLS, MP4, MKV, etc.), streaming protocols, and device compatibility.
• Identify, document, and track defects using bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
• Assist in the certification process for devices to ensure compatibility.
• Troubleshoot issues to the root cause and provide detailed bug reports.
• Automate simple & repetitive manual tests.
• Reviewing software requirements and preparing test scenarios.
• Executing tests on software usability.
• Analyzing test results on errors or bugs, and usability.
• Preparing reports on all aspects related to the software testing carried out and reporting to the team.
• Interacting with clients to understand product requirements.
